The gate way to Northern Tohoku, Morioka city, Iwate Prefecture.
The Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building stands about 10 minutes away from Morioka Station by bus.

This retro building with beautiful brick architecture represents the modern history of Morioka City and the Japanese Taisho era bank.

The building was in operation as a bank up until 2012 and has supported many citizens of Iwate.

It was designed by Kingo Tatsuno from Tatsuno-Kasai Architectural Design Office, widely known for his work on Tokyo Station. This is the only remaining architecture designed by Kingo in the Tohoku region.
Since its closure, the bank, also known as “Bank of Iwate Red Brick Building,” was converted for the public to see and used for various events.
