[Itsukushima Shrine]

Itsukushima Shrine is located in the city of Hatsukaichi in Hiroshima Prefecture. It is on the island of Itsukushima (Miyajima). It is usually called Aki’s Miyajima, and it is one of the three great view in Japan. The buildings line in a row and become as a one with the nature in the background. It gives off a wonderful atmosphere like a fairy tale.

The gateway at the entrance to the shrine (Japanese called Torii) with red painting is in the middle of the sea. It looks like floating on the ocean and it is 16.8 meters height. It is almost as the same height as the great statue of Buddha in Nara.

This big Torii is designated as an important National Treasures. The style of main hall (Honden) with the same red painting that floats on the ocean, it is just like an appearance of Dragon Palace (Ryugu-jo). It fascinates the visitors’heart with its beauty.
