【Nigyo Joruri】
＂Nigyo Joruru” is one of the traditional classical arts that starts in Edo period. (Nigyou: Japanese puppet；Joruri: a form of Japanese narrative music). This is a type of puppet play that performs with Samisen (Japanese musical instrument) and Jorurui.
The plays from Takemoto Gidayuu’s Kidayubushi and Chikamatsu Monzaemon are the most popular ones and became great success.
Nigyou Joruri is an Important intangible cultural property in Japan and also recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.
Further, in present Japan, the government is aiming to popularized Nigyo Jorurui. Before Tokyo 2020 Olympic opening, Nigyo Joruri is scheduled playing around Japan.
