A unique and unparalleled beauty

Do you know? Japanese dyeing techniques.
Today, I am introducing Soshido, the only place that produces Nanbu Shikon-zome and Nanbu Akane-zome, traditional Japanese dyed fabrics.

Nestled in the quiet mountains of Morioka City, Soshido welcomes visitors with a gently swaying noren curtain at its entrance. This place is filled with the nostalgic charm of old Japan, with a fragrance of history and tradition.

Inside the shop, you can see the works of artisans who dye each piece by hand. Shikon-zome is made by carefully boiling the roots of the shikon plant to produce a deep purple color. This purple, with its calm beauty, soothes the hearts of those who see it.

On the other hand, Akane-zome is created from the roots of the akane plant, producing a bright red color. This color is vibrant and charming, bringing joy to those who see it. Each pattern, created by the skilled artisans, is a unique piece in the world.

The Shikon-zome and Akane-zome created at Soshido are not just crafts. They are the crystallization of the nature and life of the Nanbu region, and the traditional techniques passed down through generations. These beautiful dyed items are not only for wearing as kimonos but also appear in small accessories like coin purses and bags, embodying their charm and warmth.

Every time you visit Soshido, you can feel the beauty of old Japan and the passion of the artisans.
