This time, I introducing the enchanting Awa Odori dance festival in Naruto City, Tokushima Prefecture.
Every summer, Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture comes alive with the vibrant Awa Odori. Held from August 9th to 11th, this festival unites tourists and locals in a rhythm of dance, creating special moments together.
Schedule of Naruto City Bon Dance
First Dance
The festival starts on August 9th at 10 AM with the first dance at Senjojiki Observatory in Naruto Park. Dancing amidst the spectacular scenery is a sight to behold.
Paid Performance Venue
The paid performance venue is a special place with reserved seating where you can enjoy the powerful dances up close. The main event takes place at the BOAT RACE Naruto East Performance Venue. From August 9th to 11th, from 7 PM to 10 PM, you can enjoy the thrilling Awa Odori on an 80-meter-long stage. Important Notes
Admission tickets are required for those in elementary school and above. Advance tickets are 700 yen, and same-day tickets are 1000 yen. Seating is free within the venue, but you cannot move between the north and south sides of the East Performance Venue. Children under elementary school age must be accompanied by one guardian for every two children. Those with a disability certificate and one caregiver can enter at half price (advance tickets 350 yen, same-day tickets 500 yen). Tickets are only valid on the specified date and the event will be canceled in case of rain. Niwa Ren
Niwa Ren is a group dance that tourists and locals can freely join. No special dance skills or experience are needed, making it an excellent opportunity to experience the joy of Awa Odori. Anyone can join the "Niwa Ren," which takes place daily at 8 PM. Those who wish to participate should gather at the entrance of the dance group at the East Performance Venue at 7:45 PM. You can join the dance circle in any attire.

Transportation Access
Train
All venues are within walking distance from JR Naruto Station. Temporary trains will also operate during the festival, providing convenient access.
Bus
You can use the paid buses running in Naruto City. They provide smooth access to the venues.
Car
For those coming by car, temporary parking is available, but we recommend using public transportation to ease congestion. Parking is available at the Naruto City Cultural Hall parking lot. Due to heavy traffic on the day of the event, please cooperate by using public transportation. The committee is not responsible for any theft or accidents within the parking lot. Please do not engage in illegal parking as it inconveniences the local residents.
Other Activities
During the festival, various stalls line the streets, offering local delicacies and souvenirs. Enjoy the tastes of Naruto City between dances.
